Frequently
Asked Questions:
Where
do I find Intake and Credit Card Forms to fill out?
They
can be found at the bottom to the home page. Click on the highlighted
word and in the format you prefer. It will automatically download
and open. Print, fill out and fax the document to the fax number
provided.
How
many years have you been working with children?
I
have been working with children since 1981.
Do
you recommend other therapies in addition to Physical Therapy?
Many
times a child comes in and may need additional therapies. I work
in conjunction with other therapists in the area...Occupational
Therapy, Speech Therapy and Behavioral therapy to mention a few.
I also recommend recreational activities that are therapeutic
(as well as fun!) such as swimming, horseback riding, gymnastics,
music and movement classes, etc.
What
is the difference between Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy?
In
the pediatric practice there is a large overlap between OT and
PT. Both use developmental therapy but can be augmented with specialty
areas and a therapist's knowledge based on her formal education
and continuing education. PT focuses on gross motor skills, gait
and mobility. OT may work more with fine motor abilities, sensory
and perceptual skills, handwriting and other activities of daily
living.
Do
you participate in any Early Intervention Programs?
I
am vendorized by the Golden Gate Regional Center to evaluate and
treat children in their program. She also works with the MCOE
(Marin County Office of Education) evaluating and treating children
in their educational environment.
Do
you accept insurance?
I
am contracted by the MIPA as their pediatric specialist. A copayment
for the office visit is the only payment required. Most HMO plans
in our area (except Kaiser)are administered by the MIPA. She does
not bill insurance companies directly. I will provide you with
a bill to submit your claim. Payment for services is due when
the services are rendered.
Do
you accept credit cards?
We accept VISA and MasterCard. You card information transaction is processed securely by one of the most trusted names in the payments industry, Authorize.net.
How
much will I be reimbured when I submit my claim?
Every
policy varies in what they will cover. It's best to call your
insurer and find out exactly what services are covered and at
what rate. Many companies will cover 70% of the charges. Some
insurers have caps on annual allowances for therapies. Again,
call your carrier and to get the information you will need to
handle your claim.
